"We Must Have US Currency Backed By Gold" He Proclaimed - But That's Insane I Said

Not long ago, an acquaintance and part-time conspiracy theorist said to me; "[all] money [should be] backed by gold and we should dismantle [sic] certain parts of the Federal Reserve and World Bank," and so I asked him a simple question; "Do you know if there is still enough gold to cover all the current created world-wide currency by all nations?"
Of course, I know the answer, and there really isn't even enough gold in the world at the current price to back all the dollars circulating around this globe as the reserve currency. He probably figured out where he had error'ed and stated; "No, but we have many other precious metals, [money] should be backed by material of set value."
Here are my thoughts on this whole concept. No way, screw that, as China has 97% of all the REEs Rare Earth Elements, and has restricted the sale of 76% of them, thus, forcing any company making high-tech products using exotic metals to set up factories there to employ Chinese, and partner with a Chinese company, thus, transfer all the US technology to them.
In many regards there is a war going on in the minds of the Red Chinese Communists (which entails a good portion of the higher-up leadership there) and they see economic maneuvers and trade disputes as war, only a lesser degree, and they believe we are thus, at war with them. No not the whole country, just the Think Tanks on the Red Army side of things, and Mao's grandson has moved up to general, the youngest general in China.
We need to have our citizens educated in the reality of economic affairs and gold standards, as all this talk is not good for America or the dollar. Playing into the hands of those who wish to de-thrown the dollar as the World's reserve currency is a real problem. Besides the Chinese have been playing manipulative games with their currency to a greater degree than any of the top ten GDP nations.
This is serious stuff, and we need to be thinking very carefully on these things, we need to stop trashing the US of A. Another instance of problematic well-intentioned by knowledge lacking movements is the alternative energy issues and Global Warming theory. You see, promoting too much of this international "we are all friends" thing and trying to play environmentalism cards is only playing into their hands, and it hurts America.
If one really cares about the environment they need to focus on the dead-zones off the coast of China, the Yangtze river, the air pollution floating across the pacific, and the toxins in their fish they export, toys, toothpaste, pet food, drywall, would you like me to go on? I can for four more pages.
Look, we live in the greatest nation ever created and we need to maintain that, and make prudent decisions, and think about things. There are many factors involved, we just cannot pick some and ignore the rest of reality. At some point we need to educate our electorate, perhaps make economic classes mandatory. Please consider all this, before you are coaxed into joining some cause that you know nothing about.
